Stuck in Salt Lake

So I've just been at a children's book symposium and bought Miss Emma 4 books.  She won't want for reading material.  Tomorrow I am in the Days of '47 Children's Parade.  Not really in it but manning a booth for the library.  I have to go into work also for a little while.  I really wish I could see my little granddaughter.  If I lived in California, I'd be lost.  I really miss that little girl when I don't get to see her every weekend or two.  It is a good thing I have a very busy job to keep me occupied.

Michele probably wanted to kill us but we didn't do it to disrespect her work.  I think she is very talented!  I just thought Gus would look cute.  And he did!

Misses

So my son and daughter-in-law call Emma bean "Misses".  The nickname is longer but I don't remember the rest of it.  I will post about it next time.  These videos are so cute!  Don't listen to the background noise or Mathew's and my mom's voices.  Listen to Emma.  She is growing so fast and she totally recognizes voices and faces now as well as laughs and smiles. She is gooing too.  She has conversations with me about how her mom and dad fight and the dogs lick her and how much she loved Uncle Shawn.

She's really losing her hair now.  I guess my boys lost all of theirs around this age too.  Not at the same time!  Emma bean is even beautiful when she sleeps!  Look at the little chubby arms and cheeks!

2 month old Emma Fae Ross

So my son and daughter-in-law and little Emma bean came out to Salt Lake to visit this weekend.  We had a lot of fun!  Emma and I stayed home and played while mommy and daddy went to Guitar Center.  My oldest son, Shawn, met up with them there.  He hung out with us all day.  We went to a Living Traditions Festival near the library.  It was interesting and much more diverse than I've ever seen Salt Lake in the past.  They even served beer!  I know, right?

So this morning, we all wake up and go to Einstein Bagels to get coffee and breakfast before the little Ross family headed back to Vernal.  I was taking care of Emma and when I do that, I become a little absentminded about everything else around me.  I had been using my cell phone moments earlier in Mat's car.  After we eat, I told them to go ahead and go home and I would walk to my apartment because Einstein Bagels is 2 blocks away.  Even before Mathew's car made it out of my sight, I realized I had left my phone on his seat.  But I had no phone to call him from.  So I made the 10 minute walk home, grabbed my keys and Piyo and drove to Sweet Library.

So most of you who read this know that most libraries have an alarm system that has to be armed when you leave the building and disarmed when you come into the building.  A code has to be entered in upon entrance into the building at which time it will stop beeping.  As I am driving to the library I think a little about this code.  The code is written in my phone.  Of course.  Then I remember my Library Associate telling me a few days ago that if I forget the code, its inside the door of the maintenance room where the alarm is at.  So I figure if I can't remember the code, it'll be inside the door.  I unlock the door and per usual the alarm goes off.  I go to the maintenance room and type in what I think is the code.  The alarm is still going off.  I look around.  There are various paperwork on clipboards for our maintenance worker, Carol, but no code.  I start to panic and pull papers down, trying to find the code.  The alarm gets louder and that's when I give up, get the phone and call the alarm company to tell them the situation.

The alarm company tells me that a dispatcher is already en route.  I apologize for my stupidity and hang up.  Then I call Mathew to ask him where he is.  By now he is near Heber, an hour away.  I tell him to stop somewhere and leave the phone with a gas station attendant, that I would come pick it up later.  What a mess.

After I get off the phone and go back in a room that has a view of the outside, I see a man in work man's clothes (the shirt with a name sewn on the left side).  I open up thinking it is the alarm company.  It's security at the Main Library.  I've never seen this man nor has he ever seen me.  So he asks me for my name and some id.  I produce the keys to the library, tell him my supervisor's name, which he seems satisfied with and he waits with me until the alarm company get there.  It's about 45  minutes since I started this mess.

The dispatcher from the alarm company comes, I apologized again and they leave.  I turned out lights, armed the alarm and left.  How embarrassing.

I drove an hour to Heber where Mat had left my phone at a Maverik convenience store and my phone and I were reunited. 

Little Tooter

She is always so happy!  I got to spend quality time with her over the weekend and she got her first overnighter with grandma!  It was so fun.  I actually had to keep her bottle away in order to hear her cry (I know, mean right?).  She is a tooter though.  She must have know that her nickname is Emmabean (LOL).

Look at this little girl!  She is the most beautiful baby I've seen in at least a year.  What a doll!

Easter Day

You were a little camera shy!  Daddy is so proud of you.  Your mommy is such a good mommy.

Shawn came to Salt Lake to do some things today.  I had to work so he and his friend Olivia came to the library and saw me.  I asked him if he had any recent pictures of you and here is what he sent me.  I think he is a proud uncle!  He looks very comfortable holding you.  You look pretty happy too.

You were a week old yesterday, little Emma bean. It is so fun to see you open your little eyes.  Your mom and dad take such good care of you!  I love you!

It's 11 am Friday morning and I'm waiting for your mom to call so I can go snuggle you a little longer before I have to go home for a week or so. I start my new job on Monday and I'm excited about it. I'm very happy I made the move from Cali to Utah. Now if my phone would just get here...

You're here!

I'm so happy to announce that Emma Fae Ross is here!  She joined us on March 20, 2012 at 5:56 pm.  She weighed 7 lbs. 14 ozs. and is 20 1/4" long.  She has so much dark hair on her head!  She is just gorgeous. 

Emma is not quite 2 days old but she looks filled out and the doctor pronounced her a healthy baby girl!

Today's the day! We are sitting in the hospital waiting for the medicine to help Michele's body to contract. We've been here since 7 am. It's 11 am now. The nurses are awesome!

Day 2 and 1 gone!

I couldn't post yesterday but I saw your mommy. She doesn't feel very good because you're almost ready to be here. They're going to see the doctor this morning. The dr is probably going to help your mom. More later...

Happy St. Patties day little bean! It's morning and you could still make your arrival today. I talked to your daddy last night and he said you're not fighting to be here yet. We are all anxious!

I'm trying to get everything done here in Salt Lake City so I can come to Vernal. Ahhhhhh, I'm so excited!

Countdown to Emma

It's 5 days until the due date! I can't believe you ate finally going to be here!

Okay little girl.  Momma's ready to have you and I'm ready to be a gran and to cuddle you in Utah!

My teen advisory board threw me a going away party yesterday.  This is the cake they had made for me and it was GOOD!

This is my TAB group.  They were a lot of fun and I will miss them. 

Grandma's comin home!

So, Emma, I'm finally coming back to the state of Utah.  I hope that I can see lots of you.  I'm not really happy that the weather here in California is in the 70's and the weather in Utah is in the 40's right now.  Great-grandma Christofferson says the wind is blowing too.  Yuck!  But, I'll be closer to you! And your mom and dad and uncle and everyone else.  Miranda sent me a picture of your cute baby shower invitations.  I'll post a picture of what she sent me.  Three more weeks until you change all of our worlds!

Neat stuff

Your mom and dad have some neat friends named Ashlee Keddy and Bart Hadlock.  Bart has a nephew that has cancer and is losing his hair due to chemo treatments.  So Bart had your mother shave his head like his nephew.  What a nice thing for him to do.  And look at your mom!  She's so excited for you to be here, look what she has done in your room...

It is so cute!  The color and your name.  I'm sure you are going to love it.  We are all having a hard time waiting on my little bean to finish growing in your mama's tummy and come meet all of us!

Our family is so lucky to have your little spirit coming to us!  We are all so excited.  You're mommy and daddy are gathering the best things to take care of you.  Your family and friends of your mom and dad are helping!  Hopefully, grandma C. will get some pictures up of your baby shower and gifts.

Don't feel bad Emma, all momma's, at sometime while they are lovingly taking such good care of their babies, become tired of having a huge baby in their tummies.  I loved packing around your Uncle Shawn and your daddy but it was hard work for 9 months.  You are a lucky baby!

Quilt

Here is the finished product!  I made it just for you, Emma bean.  I didn't think I could do it.  Your mom made a really cute one and I thought I would try it.  It's really soft and warm.  I hope you will like it!

Little Girl

I love my two boys, with all my heart!  If I had been given a chance to have more children, boys would have been my choice because that is what I knew.  But, I am so excited for you!  I can imagine that we will have great tea parties and play dress up.  I can spend more time with you than I did with my own boys, which I regret not doing.

So, today, I am starting the job hunt again.  I was a little bummed that I didn't get a job I applied for in Salt Lake City and I needed time to rest from all the work it is to apply and interview, etc.  But now, I know that family is my priority and I need to move back to Utah.  Even if I hate the weather there! 

Uncle Shawn

Your Uncle Shawn is going to be the best uncle in the world!  He loves almost everything (except dawdling drivers), and he has 2 dogs that are his pride and joy along with his car which is an inanimate object but we'll get into that when you're a little bit older. 

The first picture is Uncle Shawn with my dog, Piyo.  He loves all dogs.  He doesn't really like cats.  Remind me to tell you about my cat, Luna and the time we lived in Phoenix and Uncle Shawn. Uncle Shawn did a lot of time-outs because of that cat. 

Angus, or Gus as we like to call him, is the noble creature on the right.  He is the best mutt around.  He's dumb as a box of rocks but he's playful and energetic too.  So I guess by now you know that our family kind of like dogs a little.  Hope your not a cat person!  That'd be okay if you were...your grandma would get you a kitten that your dad would have to clean up after her.

Harley Jo and Piyo

Emma, your little cousin Harley-Jo is so cute!  Look at her.  She's trying to sit on Piyo!  Piyo just wants to play with her.  This was at great grandma and grandpa Christofferson's house as Christmas 2011.  

Back to work!

Grandma spent the holidays with your mom and dad.  It was very fun!  You only kicked me once though.  I'm sure you'll kick me again soon!  Your mom and dad decided on your name:  Emma!  I love it.  You're my little Emma bean!  Your dad doesn't like me to call you that but he can't stop me, can he? 

I made my flight reservations yesterday to come back to Utah when you are born.
